Clean-ting

Have you seen Tyler Perry's~Diaries of a Mad Black Woman? If you haven't, I suggest you do, it's full of laughs. One of my favorite things about the movie is Medea (one of the main characters) cleaning. Medea, refers to cleaning as clean-ting. I thought this picture summed up what clean-ting actually IS. Note: high heal (s), passy, and full enthusiasm!

Pass the Lollipop, please

A week ago, we went to eat Mexican with some of our friends. I warned them when we arrived that Cole had not been cooperative in eating out situations lately. I gave him many choices about where to sit, what he was going to eat, and he was just not going to have any of it! The unfortunate thing: we hadn't even received our water when Cole started screaming "No, NO, NO" and a not-so-nice elderly couple was sitting next to us, giving the evil eye. After a few minutes of being patient, many tries at the table, and opportunities to run outside, I decided to take him to the car for "time out" (I was far from calm). On my way to the car, I heard someone say "Elise, over here" it was like an angel whispering from the sky! A dear friend of mine was on her way to the grocery store and offered to take Cole with her! What amazing timing! So, Marc and I had a nice dinner with our friends, and Cole had a great time at the grocery store. When he came back, he had a bag of lollipops, one of which he proceeded to use as a fork to eat his dinner. This was a battle I didn't pick! He ate all of his rice, beans and quesadillia, and sat quietly in his seat. Guess what's stashed in my car? Yep-the new utensil of choice.

Been a while. . .

I like this picture because he looks like a little devil in disguise, which is how I can describe the past week! Things have been fun and Cole's surely been entertaining us lately.
He's really starting to say a lot of thing and Marc and I can tell he's picking up things we say~ Everything he says ends in "Mommy or Daddy" as if he's asking a question, here's an example: " Getting up in there, Mommy". He loves saying, "up in there" or "over in there"... can you tell he's busy?

Random funnies

Ear infection is finally gone! YAY! We went to see our favorite Dr. on Monday who gave us an official thumbs up. He (our Dr.) was a little concerned about his ears because he had to switch antibiotics and the infection got worse. Hopefully, we won't be going back there for a long while.

I can tell Cole is nearing his 2nd birthday. He has been "Mr. Independent" and insisting on certain things. This morning, we had to run errands and I had our morning precisely mapped out. We left the house an hour late because he wouldn't let me change his diaper, then when we did, he didn't want shoes on, then, he wanted to walk outside instead of ride in the car. After a busy morning, we enjoyed being outside all afternoon, I LOVE this time of year.

Thought I'd share some funnies, too:
* whenever he does something he knows he's not supposed to do, he says "time out" as if he's sending himself there (we just started this, obviously, and it's going faily well :)
* he says "push it" a lot (he loves pushing buttons) and it clearly sounds like "bull sh#%"
* he's obsessed with his belly button and often tries to show everyone mine (particularly while we're out)
* I have a "beauty mark" on my chest he calls "mommy's button" and likes to "push it" you know where we're going with this one... "bull sh$# mommy's button"
* last night in the bathtub, he grabbed a cup and peed in it... standing up and all!

As I finish this up, it is nearly 10:30 and Cole is still awake! Guess a late nap coupled with a salty dinner (evidently, he's been drinking water nonstop)has made it difficult for an early night...so..good night! I'll hopefully have some fun photos up soon.

Little Roadtrip

A couple weeks ago, we went to Kentucky to see Marc's grandma and Aunt. We had a great time on our short visit! Cole was funny as ever and wore my sunglasses the whole 2.5 hour car ride.

Marc had a sweet moment when he saw Cole hiding in the same spot he used to as a kid in Mamaw's kitchen.

Margarita anyone?

This has officially been one of the longest weeks I've ever had! Not to mention I'd like to write it off as if it had never occurred... Here's a little of what we've been through this week. Feel free to laugh at #1 (I'm just getting to where I am able to laugh) . . .

1. Last Monday (a week ago) I went downtown Franklin to meet a friend. After our time together, I loaded up the car as I usually do, got Cole in his car seat and shut the car doors. Except I forgot that I had locked the doors and my keys were on the front seat! Long story short, the police sent a fire truck and the rescue squad, blocked off downtown Main Street and managed to get my car unlocked. For those of you who are not familiar with Franklin, it is a quaint downtown area with small little boutiques. I believe everyone who worked in Franklin and those just shopping were curbside, watching the fiasco I had created! To add to the mix, there was also a tour bus with elderly folks with huge "Nashville" name tags, who gathered around my car, and one woman began to video tape me with her camera phone and proceeded to interview me about "improvements on downtown Franklin". So, if you see me on utube, please send the link :) Did I mention I was on my way to the first doctor appt. of the week?

2. Still Monday- first Dr. appt (for Cole) showing signs of allergies and asthma.

3. Tuesday- back to the dr. This time, sent us home with the nebulizer. He managed to stay up almost all night having difficulty breathing. So, we decided to go back to the Dr. on Wednesday.

4. Wednesday- Sinus infection, ear infection, still on breathing treatments.

5. Today- Back to the Dr. again, to find an ear infection in the OTHER ear. Got a shot, new antibiotics. Hopefully this is IT for a while!

So, that's what we've been doing! Things have been pretty boring other than this mess. We're still hoping that Cole doesn't have asthma (although it's looking like he does). As for Marc and I, we're ready for the weather to get warm again so we can enjoy being outside (it's 45 today, grrr).

We've been a little busy...

Doing this....
and this..

because Cole has a nasty respiratory "something" (virus and suspicion of asthma).
